Madi...the girl in polka dots

Washington rain is at it again. Believe it or not...It rained in the entire shoot. If you look closer you might see the goosebumps on this brave little lady. We both couldn't wait to get inside and take a hot shower. BURRRRRRR!

Audrey and Olivia...Cowgirls in the Rain
What started as a light sprinkle quickly turned into a stready downpour (that might be a slight exaggeration). Despite rain, heavy cloud cover and chattering teeth, these tough cowgirls "grinned and beared it". Even the horse cooperated, although I had to loose my trusty umbrella as it would spook the horse. The lengths we are willing to go for creative photography!
Brown Family...Sneak Peak
I almost rescheduled this shoot due to washington rain but we went for it.
Armed with umbrellas we made it work and as you can see it worked out great. More to come!

Caulder & Sully...brothers
Here is a sneak peak of two buddies who just happen to be brothers.
You might recognize this trio from the previous post...
by day Geonicy, Caulder and Sully
by night Spider Witch, Airplane and Mr. Skeleton
Trick Or Treat!
I forgot to post a sneak peak of this spooky trio. Enjoy!

Baby Trenton...OSU cowboy in the making
Got to love some school spirit! Perfect color scheme with Halloween just around the corner. This little cowboy happens to be my ultimate favorite age...6 months. I love shooting 6 months olds because: number 1 the adorable baby fat has arrived, number 2 not only can they can sit up and smile but the whole "stranger anxiety" thing hasn't taken effect, and number 3 using mom and dad as props works great and can also help in framing the shot. Scroll down for another sneak peak of this little guy and an outfit change, newsie cap and all!

Little Lincoln...a day at the soccer field
This is my little guy Lincoln. Apparently he was in the mood for an impromptu photo shoot at the soccer field. I'll take it when I can get it! He thought he was pretty clever peeking through this old soccer net. I love when the sun makes a surprise appearance in Washington.

Mackenzie...Locks of Love
Here is my sweet neighbor Mackenzie who posed for a quick photo shoot before she chopped her beautiful golden brown hair to donate to Lock of Love. I was so tickled to be part of this great act of love, especially since I have a sister who battled childhood cancer. This entry is dedicated to my little sister Mikell who is an angel among us. Thanks Mackenzie!

all about a boy...encore!
I had to share a few more of my brown-eyed boy. As you can see I played around with some sunflare to give the photos a warm and hazey effect. This family opted for a quick clothing change to classic white and we drove just down the road to use the Puget Sound as a beautiful backdrop.

all about a boy...
Here's a sneak peak for the Stephens Family. This little guy has the biggest brown eyes I have ever seen. He was full of energy and smiles and certainly kept me on my toes! More of this brown-eyed boy to come!

Tilton Family...making tracks.
Here is a sneak peak of this colorful family. Mom did an excellent job coordinating the clothing which always makes my job easier. I'd like to highlight this family as a clothing selection done right case study: Pick a colorful print to start (little girl's skirt print). Use this as inspiration when selecting clothing for a whole family. Pick out 2-3 colors (red and blue in this case) in the starter print and dress every member of the family in those colors (otherwise known as color- coordinating). Use a mix of patterns/prints and solids. Keep the pants simple (denim in this case) but play around with denim skirts (see mom), denim jackets (see little girl) or denim vests . Add some depth by layering and accessories. Combine these styling tips with some very photogenic kiddos and viola...clothing done right! More of this family coming soon!

Shane...Encore!
You saw a glimse of this senior boy with his retro-restored car a few months ago. I wanted to shoot a different side of him and convinced him to wait for better lighting conditions to shoot in the harbor. In the meantime...he went to scout camp and shaved his head, which postponed things a bit more. However good things come to those who wait. Here is some of my favorites from this harbor shoot, historic boat house and all. By the way, I have to mention this soon-to-be college co-ed sold his 19?? fully-restored Scamp to pay for college. Good Luck at BYU-Idaho!

Weber State University Cheer Squad
I hit the beach for a sporty shoot with WSU Cheer Squad in Daytona Beach, FL for the NCA College Cheerleading Nationals. Back to defend their 2009 championship title, the team took home 2nd place this year. Go Wildcats!

Laurin...vintage beauty

After shooting beauty shots at a local park, we took a hop, skip and a jump across the street to historic Ruston for a little vintage flare to match her headpiece (handmade by the bride's grandmother). I always find that the back of old buildings (hidden from view) are the best for vintage photography. You might find some trash cans, ladders, the employee smoke spot, however when you remove these less appealing items you discover character, color and charm. Did I mention I love red hair!

Shane

Just a sneak peak for my latest senior boy. He debated on bringing his vintage Scamp to the shoot. When his mom told me one of his hobbies is "restoring cars", I insisted The Scamp come along. I even found a retro service station to serve as a fitting backdrop. The best part was the posted sign "Don't you DARE park hear". Don't worry I got the owners permission!
